CONFUCIUS CLASSROOM is a joint project of the University of Technology and Economics in České

Budějovice and the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics in Shanghai.

Its goal is to provide effective Chinese language instruction for a wide range of interested parties and

to acquaint them with ancient Chinese culture, customs in business meetings or social contact, and

Chinese realities. Knowledge of Chinese language and of the cultural and social customs of one of the

most advanced economies in the world increases the competencies of students and managers and

represents huge study and job opportunities and significant added value in the labor market.

The teaching team consists of four native speakers with experience in teaching in the Czech Republic.

The only prerequisite is the basics of English, in which students communicate with lecturers.

Beginners will understand the phonetic alphabet Pinyin, recognize 150 calligraphic characters and

learn colloquial phrases.

For professionals, the content of the study can be adapted to their professional focus, such as the

basics of business Chinese.

At the end of the semester, the student passes a partial exam for progression to the next semester.

Graduates can obtain an internationally recognized certificate at the end of their studies.

Teaching in the range of two hours per week is adapted to the time possibilities of students, it is also

possible to teach remotely through virtual channels such as MICROSOFT TEAMS. The study groups

will consist of a maximum of three students.

We start teaching during September 2022 for pupils and adults and from October for university

students.

It will be taught at the headquarters of Confucius Avenue in the center of České Budějovice in

Kněžská Street. We have modern language teaching classes and a library with textbooks and aids.

For parents and companions, we are preparing a background for a pleasant time over a cup of

Chinese tea and with accompanying workshops.
