The Chinese Bridge competition recognized gifted Chinese students

On Thursday, May 9, from 12:30 p.m., the preliminary round of the Chinese professional competition Chinese Bridge for foreign university students in the Czech Republic took place in the Clarion Congress Hotel in České Budějovice. The eight contestants had prepared a short performance in Chinese, including demonstrations of calligraphy or playing traditional musical instruments. Representatives of the Chinese Cultural Council and Confucius Classes in the Czech Republic sat on the jury.

The theme of the 23rd year of the competition was One World, One Family. This motto perfectly describes the long-term cooperation of the University of Technology and Economics in České Budějovice with the Confucius Class, which shares Chinese culture with all age categories of pupils, students and interested members of the public. Confucius class is located in VŠTE Coworking in Kněžská street near the square. Chinese language lessons and workshops focused on Chinese culture and gastronomy are very popular with primary and secondary school students, interested adults and corporate clients.

The most active students of Chinese can apply for the Chinese Bridge competition, which since its inception in 2002 has been attended by more than 600 competitors from more than 50 countries around the world. In the preliminary round in České Budějovice, eight participants demonstrated their knowledge in front of a jury composed of Chinese and Czech representatives. The best two contestants won a sightseeing trip to China. The chairman of the jury was Ms. Hao Hong, Chinese cultural advisor (Cultural Conselsor), the jury also included Jiang Yupeng (Head of Education Office), Chen Zhong (Director of the Olomouc Confucius Institute), Han Zhaoxu (Director of the Ostrava Confucius Class) and Dai Bo (Director Chinese International School of Prague).
