Southwest Jiaotong University, located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the country. It is primarily known for its engineering programs, particularly in the field of transportation engineering, where it has built a significant reputation both nationally and internationally. It has supported the development of China’s railway system for 126 years and now continuously contributes to the development of the high-speed railway system.
Historical Significance: Founded in 1896 as the Imperial Chinese Railway College, Southwest Jiaotong University is one of the oldest universities in China. It has a rich history in education, especially in railway engineering, and has played a key role in the development of China’s railway system.
Degree programmes: The university offers a wide range of academic programmes, but is best known for its focus on engineering, particularly transport, railway engineering and logistics. It also offers programs in natural sciences, management and humanities.
31.10.2023 Sichuan University
Located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, China, Sichuan University is one of the most prominent and oldest universities in the country.
History and Establishment: Sichuan University has a long and rich history. Its roots go back to 1896, when it was founded as the Sichuan Chinese and Western School. Today’s university was formed through the merger of several older institutions, including the former Sichuan University, Chengdu University of Science and Technology, and West China University of Medical Sciences.
Degree Programmes: The university is known for its wide range of academic programs covering natural sciences, engineering, medicine, humanities, management, economics, law and arts. Its programs and research projects are among the best in China.
1.11.2023 Kindergarten #17
This kindergarten is focused on creating a better life and a happy childhood for its students. This kindergarten attaches great importance to all the activities that the children may encounter in the future. Here they learn basic housework, first aid, cooperation and a healthy lifestyle.
On our visit, we first attended the morning joint warm-up, which begins the daily classes. After completing the warm-up, we were introduced to the main pillars of teaching in this kindergarten, which are highlighted above.
After that, we visited a practical lesson, where individual classes devoted themselves to various activities that we could try together with the children.
2.11. Yunnan University
Yunnan University, located in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province in southwest China, is one of the prominent universities in the country.
History and Significance: Founded in 1922, Yunnan University is one of the oldest universities in China. Its establishment was key to the development of education in southwest China, and the university maintains a strong academic influence in the region.
Degree programmes: The university offers a wide range of academic programs covering various fields including humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, medicine and management. It is known for its emphasis on interdisciplinary study and research.
3.11. Yunnan Normal University
Yunnan Normal University, located in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, China, is a recognized higher education institution that focuses mainly on teacher education and educational science.
Focus on Teacher
Education: As the name suggests, Yunnan Normal University is primarily focused on teacher education and pedagogy. It is one of the main institutions in the region for those who want to enter the teaching profession. They offer all kinds of training for employees and KC directors – I’ve been to several.
They could also be beneficial for us in the development of language teaching, last year they donated several nihs to teach our students.
Diversity of academic fields: Although the main focus is pedagogy, the university also offers a wide range of other academic programs including arts, sciences, humanities and social sciences, economics, law and management.
4.11. 2023 Shanghai University of International Business and Economics
hanghai University of International Business and Economics (formerly known as Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade) was founded in 1960 as one of the first two higher education institutes offering degree programs set up by the former Ministry of Foreign Trade. It is hailed as a “cradle for professionals in foreign trade in China”
History and Significance: In 1994, the university was transferred to the administration of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government; in 2009, it became the first China-based university admitted to the WTO Chairs Programme; in 2013, it adopted the current name; in 2019, it was certified as a WTO Asia-Pacific Training Center and became the only regional training partner set up in the Chinese mainland among the seven training partners of the WTO; in 2021, it was approved to grant doctorate degrees by the Academic Degree Commission of the State Council and could offer doctorate programs under the top-tier discipline of applied economics; in 2022, it was listed in the program of promoting key top-tier universities in Shanghai.
